Welcome to a quaint, charming world of its own, a sort of distant paradise. The pool is the focal point - soothing and refreshing and the sound of running water is an elixir which gives the 12 all Suite Boutique Hotel a tranquility that is beguilingly addictive.

Conceived as an adult-experience, The Suites, scattered around the pool are endowed with different motifs - the Sea, the Fields, the Mountains and Castle which give one the very aroma of Goa.

But its greatest attraction is the Ayurveda Centre designed to tone up your body, mind and soul. It is the only Boutique Hotel which is built on the lines of a natural, traditional architecture concept using exposed masonry.

Eco-friendly and with the minimum use of resources, it uses Goa laterite stones liberally, hence the glow it emits is distinctly Goan. The twittering of birds and a variety of flora and fauna enhance this other-world charm that makes your stay a tryst with nature and a solace for the soul.


Architectural Features
Built on the concept of natural architecture, random rubble (of Goan laterite stone), is used extensively. Normally used for foundation of homes, the rubble has been fitted together like a jig-saw puzzle. For this feature, masons from neighbouring states toiled a whole day to fix just 10 stones.

The rustic U-shaped Goan earthernware roof tiling utilised in Portuguese construction design were carefully chosen and 'collected' over a period of 2 years for use as roof finishing, since they effectively contribute to aesthetics and to cooler temperatures because of their thermal design in ventilation.

Current high procuring and maintenance costs of such hand-crafted features of antiquity are sadly and unfortunately not conducive to the economics of cost-effective, present day construction.

 

Accomodations
13 airconditioned suites comprise of 3 Standard suites, 7 Superior suites and 3 Deluxe suite. Each suite has a theme. It also has its own private dining area, bedroom with a dressing table, wardrobe and a patio with a private, detached garden or terrace. Also, STD/ISD dialing facilities, television with satellite transmission channels and a 'minibar' are all included as well.

The desk (instead of the usual counter), makes it personalised. Old-Portuguese floor tiles, Coloured Belgium Stained Glass, Macau Porcelain Railings, emblazed in the lobby.

"The Lobby Corridors provide informal sitting space. The roof is supported by rafters made of coconut-tree trunk".


Facilities
The focal point of Pousada-Tauma is a plethora of hand-crafted wooden-deck beds to relax, sun-bathe, soothed by the theraupetic sound of flowing water. The bottom and sides of the pool are finished in a striking artistic mosaic of "re-cycled broken tiles". The pool complex includes a pool-bar, pool-side pavilion and a water-cascade.
