About Amber Palace
About 11 km from Jaipur, Amber is the former capital of the
Kachhwaha Rajputs. Raja Man Singh I, the army commander of the
Mughal army during the reign of Akbar commenced the construction of
the Amber Palace in 1592. Later Raja Jai Singh and Sawai Jai Singh
completed the construction work of the fort and palace. Built in red
sandstone and white marble, the Maber Palace is a wonderful
combination of Hindu and Mughal Architecture.
Amber fort and palace are the must-visit travel attractions for the
travelers to Jaipur in Rajasthan. The palace or the royal apartments
lies inside the massive Amber fort complex with gateways, gardens,
halls, stairways, pillared pavilions, temples and palaces. Some of
the monuments inside the fort that are worth visiting are Sheesh
Mahal, Jai Mandir, Diwan-e-Aam, Kali Temple, Diwan-e-Khas and
Diwan-e-Aam.

Hawa Mahal : The Hawa Mahal or the Wind Palace is the most
remarkable structure in state capital Jaipur. It is belived that the
structure was built to offer the royal ladies watch the street
activities without being seen by others.
City
Palace : This massive structure contains numerous interesting
palaces and building of tourist's interest. In the heart of the old
city of Jaipur, the City Palace holds a large area, divided into a
series of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. The outer wall was
built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, other additions were done in the
later years, some dating back to the beginning of this century. The
palace is a fine blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, a
major tourist attraction.
Getting There
Air : Jaipur Airport, Sanganer is at a distance
of around 11km from the city center. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways
and domestivc carriers operate regular flighta to and from Jaipur.
There are direct flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur, Jodhpur,
Aurangabad, and some other cities from Jaipur.
Rail : The train service to Jaipur is available
from all the major parts of the country. An excellent connection
from Delhi is Shatabadi Express that provides a fast,
air-conditioned rail service. Other direct connections to Jaipur are
from Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Secunderabad, Agra,
Lucknow, Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta.
Road : Jaipur is well connected by road to
various parts of India. Delhi-Jaipur national highway is one of the
