Where is Hyderabad?
Hyderabad is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The city is
centrally located in the country and is considered to be the gateway to both
South India and North India.

The city of Hyderabad, capital of Andhra Pradesh, is famous for the
Charminar which was built in the Qutub Shai era. The city is also known as
the 'City of Pearls', for dealings in pearls are mostly done from Hyderabad.

Hyderabad is connected by air to cities like Delhi (1500 km), Mumbai (710
km), Chennai (674 km), Kolkata (1800 km), Pune (545 km) and Bangalore (573
km). Hyderabad/ Secundarabad are connected by rail-route to all the major
cities of the country. The city has a fabulous road-network as it lies at
the intersection of NH 7 and NH 9.
What does the climate say?
The city of Hyderabad remains fairly warm throughout the year. Temperature
during the summers remains around 42 degrees centigrade while in winters it
touches a minimum of 12 degrees centigrade. June to November is the time of
the monsoons. The city does not receive much rainfall though.

» Charminar
The Charminar predominates the city of Hyderabad for miles. Built in
granite and lime mortar, the massive structure soars up to a height of 180
feet. The arch is built in the Indo-Saracenic style and is the key
attraction of the city. It looks awesome in the evenings as it is
illuminated to the amazement of the onlookers. The structure was erected to
commemorate the end of plague epidemic that had ravaged the city.
» Mecca Masjid
Mecca Masjid is yet another attraction in the city. The construction of the
mosque was initiated by Mohammad Qutub Shah in 1617 and was finished by
Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1693. The huge courtyard of the mosque can
accommodate nearly ten thousand men at prayer.
» Golconda Fort

Golconda Fort, lying on the western outskirts of Hyderabad, enlivens a
tradition which is 400 years old. The imposing fort measures 11 km in
diameter with walls reaching up to a height of 15-18 feet. The whole
structure is flanked by 70 ramparts and 8 gigantic gates.
» Falakuma Palace
Apart from storing the most expensive art objects, tapestries and carpets,
the Falakuma Palace exhibits the largest one-man collection of diamonds. The
palace was home to the last Nizam.

the heart of old Hyderabad. Bidriware of Hyderabad is also popular all
around. The chief shopping areas of the city are Abids Bashirbagh, Nampally
and Sultan Bazar.
